Former Arkansas State Representative, Maumelle Mayor, and City Director Stephen D. Bright is seeking the Republican nomination for the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 71 in the 2026 election.
About Stephen Bright:
Stephen was born and raised in Magnolia, Arkansas. After earning a B.A. in Communication from Southern Arkansas University, he moved to Central Arkansas and settled in Maumelle in 1994. Shortly after, he became active in the Maumelle Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the board and was named Maumelle Citizen of the Year.
In 1996, Stephen was elected City Director, and in 1999 he became Mayor. Later that year, he was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives as one of its youngest members, serving from 2000 to 2006.
Following his time in public office, Stephen built a career in medical sales and healthcare administration, specializing in hospice and Medicare Advantage. He later returned to government service as Director of Communication for the Division of Transformation and Shared Services. In 2022, he was appointed Chief of Staff for the Arkansas State Treasury and currently serves as Chief of Tax Payer Services for the Secretary of State’s office.
Stephen and his wife, Leah, have been married for 15 years. They are the proud parents of their daughter, Hannah, and Stephen is also the father of two grown children.
